Liability insurance

Liability insurance: Protection against unexpected damages in everyday life

Having liability insurance is essential to protect you from the costs of damages you may cause during your daily activities, including the use of your rental property. If required by your landlord, this insurance covers the costs of repairs or compensation for damages caused to their property in the event of unintentional damage.

Such insurance may include:

Furniture damage:

For example, if you cause damage to furniture during normal use, such as breaking a cupboard, scratching a table or other damage that requires repair or replacement.

Floor covering damage:

If you cause damage to the floor (e.g. stains, damage to wood or carpet) during normal use of the apartment or as a result of an accident (e.g. spilling liquid).

Electrical appliances and equipment damage:

For example, if you accidentally damage an appliance such as a washing machine, refrigerator or other electrical appliance that belongs to the landlord.

Building and technical equipment damage:

Insurance may cover damage to installations such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical installations if they are damaged through your fault.

Maintenance and repairs:

Insurance may cover the cost of repairing damage caused that does not require intervention by the landlord or if the responsibility for the repairs is transferred to the tenant. Minor repairs are divided by Government Regulation 308/2015 Coll., according to the material definition or the amount of costs.

This insurance can be taken out separately for a rented apartment and protects you from the costs of damage that would otherwise fall under your responsibility. It will also save you from disputes with the landlord about repairs or compensation for damage. Liability insurance required by the landlord covers damage to his property.

You can also arrange other types of liability insurance, such as:

Liability insurance in everyday civil life – covers damage you may cause to third parties outside of the rental relationship, for example during sports, in public or when visiting friends.

Pet liability insurance – if you have a pet, your liability insurance may include protection against damage caused by your pet.

Liability insurance for damages caused by children – if you have children, you can include coverage for damages they cause, whether to property or accidents, both in a rented apartment and in public.

We recommend that those interested in this type of liability insurance also take out home insurance, which in turn covers damage to your personal property, for example in the event of fire, theft, water leakage or damage to household equipment.

If you do not yet have the required liability insurance, we will be happy to recommend an insurance advisor who will help you choose the most suitable insurance, take into account the specifics of the rented apartment and offer you a solution exactly according to your needs. Our advisors are also proficient in languages and communicate fluently in English.
